The quiet area of McGroarty and McVine could be changed to include a new 13 lot subdivision. Neighbors in and around the area have met with the Sunland-Tujunga Neighborhood Council’s Land Use Committee to learn more about the proposal since a copy of the application was recently received. Description of the requested actions by the City are listed below. The STNC’s Land Use Committee is working with the neighbors to invite the owner to discuss more of his plans for the site.
VTT-73957 – THE REQUEST IS FOR A 13-LOT SINGLE-FAMILY SUBDIVISION, INCLUDING 1 OPEN SPACE LOT. AN EXISTING PRIVATE SCHOOL, A SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING AND AN ACCESSORY LIVING QUARTER WILL ALL REMAIN. TEN NEW SFD WILL BE BUILT. THE PRIVATE SCHOOL EXISTS UNDER ZA-1995-212-CU. A MID-POINT LOT WIDTH ADJUSTMENT IS REQUESTED FOR LOT 7. A HAUL ROUTE IS ALSO BEING REQUESTED.

FrankI love that part of Sunland and would like to see it remain the way it is. It is my understanding that 6 houses on the 3 lots has been approved by the City BUT now the developer wants to double the amount of houses he can place on these 3 parcels. Its too bad the Peacocks can’t weigh in or the classic Oak trees and the other protected Trees the Developer plans to remove (of the 93 protected trees 50 will be removed)! Do we want more houses or trees?
I also question this project about the amount of dirt being removed by a designated “Haul Route” so this is a sizeable project to impact a peaceful and quiet meandering McGroarty Street with the influx of development. Is this what we really want in our community?
