A coalition of nine Region One Los Angeles City Neighborhood Councils, pooled their resources and put together what they called the “Rally in the Valley”, whose purpose was to encourage community members to run for their local Board election or at least become involved with their coun- cils. They pulled their money for advertising as well.
Guest Speakers included Grayce Liu, General Manager, Department of Neighborhood Empowerment {DONE}, Commissioner Kevin James, President, Dept. of Public Works Commission, Monica Radcliff, District 6 Represen- tative, LAUSD, and Commissioner Lydia Grant, Board of Neighborhood Commissioners and Stephen Box, Director of Outreach and Communication for DONE.
Each Council had a table with a banner and was staffed with Board Members who did outreach and offered refresh- ments.
Neighborhood Councils in Region One in the North East San Fernando Valley include: Arleta, Foothill Trails Distinct, Mission Hills, North Hills East, Pacoima, Panora- ma City, Sunland-Tujunga, Sun Valley and Sylmar. Their elections will be held on Saturday, March 8.
Neighborhood Councils in Region Two in the North West San Fernando Valley include: Chatsworth, Granada North, Granada Hills South, North Hills West, Northridge East, Northridge South, Northridge West and Porter Ranch. Their elections will be held on Saturday, March 1.
